On Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th June 2017 Ratby Library morphed into an art gallery; 55 paintings were exhibited, the work of 20 local artists Peter Griffin (Saturday) and Julia Kent (Sunday) were our ‘Artists in Residence’, working on their paintings whilst people viewed the exhibits around them, many stopping to watch them paint, admire their work, and ask questions about technique and style.
There was a lovely atmosphere around the place with people discussing the paintings, catching up with friends, having a go on the Tombola, choosing plants, and enjoying refreshments in the Crow Pie Cafe.
Sid Jordan’s Staithes in Yorkshire was voted ‘Favourite Painting’ in the exhibition whilst Trevor Staveley was the most popular artist overall.
I would like to say a very big “THANK YOU” to the library volunteers who gave up their time to set-up on the Friday evening, run the Tombola and plants stalls, and serve refreshments throughout the weekend:- David Williams, Chris Talbot, Ken and Avril Hunnybun, Lynda Chapman, Lewis Bennion, Jane and David Everall, Margaret Heap, Sandra Bond and Kim Pye.
Thanks once again to the people of Ratby for supporting our exhibition and library.
