During the Queens 90th Birthday celebration there was also interest in the work of the Ratby Local History Group which had several static displays plus a DVD playing for visitors to watch, whilst they enjoyed delicious refreshments in the library’s Crow Pie Cafe.
Ratby Local History Group was formed in 2001 prompted by the celebrations to mark the Millennium. The purpose of the Group is to collect information about the history of the village from artefacts, documents, newspapers, photographs, oral interviews. Meetings are generally held every two months on Friday evenings in the Village Hall and are advertised locally. The format is a main talk followed by a ‘Ratby Short’ which endeavours to link with the main talk.
